How to Secure an Arbor in Your Garden

When setting up an arbor in your garden, be sure to ensure a stable installation. Since our arbors are made of solid wrought iron, they have a considerable weight that can cause damage or even injury if they topple over. To prevent this, it is necessary to secure the arbor properly. We recommend our ground anchors, which are also made of solid iron and keep the arbor in place with their weight. For a long-term stable stand, it is best to use two ground anchors per foot element.

Many climbing plants such as roses, clematis, wisteria, and virginia creeper use the arch’s frames to climb upwards, continue growing, and eventually wrap around the arbor even at the top. Our Tip for Planting: Achieve even coverage by planting the plants on both sides of the arbor's base. This way, they can grow upwards on each side – which also benefits the arbor’s stability. Don’t plant the seedlings too close together along the arbor. Since they will spread a bit – leave about 0.5–1 m distance between the plants.
