In our range, you’ll find barrel saunas in various sizes and designs. What all the barrels have in common: They are handcrafted from high-quality spruce wood and therefore particularly durable. Our compact models are just 165 to 200 mm long, making them perfect for small gardens. Those with more space can enjoy a barrel sauna of up to 4 m in length. While the smaller models are ideal for 2 to 4 people, the large barrels provide space for 6 to 8 people sitting or 2 people lying down. In the medium and large barrel saunas, a rest area inside is optionally available, allowing you to be alone even during the rest phase. A real highlight is the panoramic window, which many of our barrel saunas feature – especially in the large version, which takes up the entire back wall of the sauna. The curved windows are made of 8 mm thick polycarbonate safety glass.

What Wood Is a Barrel Sauna Made Of?

Most of our barrel saunas are made of Scandinavian spruce with a thickness of 45 mm, as this wood is very robust and has a fine-pored structure. Moreover, spruces grow very quickly, making the use of this wood more sustainable. However, Nordic spruces, including Scandinavian ones, are not weather-resistant when untreated and are thus susceptible to fungal and insect infestations. Careful impregnation is therefore particularly important!

Barrel Sauna – How Long Does It Take to Heat Up?

The heating time of a barrel sauna depends on both its size and the stove used. A wood stove, for example, needs to be lit well in advance for a sauna session. An electric stove, on the other hand, can be set to the desired temperature and used shortly thereafter. Heating a barrel sauna is particularly easy – its advantage over conventional saunas lies in its shape. The curved walls allow the air to circulate optimally and do not accumulate at the ceiling but flow down along the curves. This shortens the heating time and ensures an even room climate.

Heating in a Barrel Sauna – Wood Stove or Electric Stove?

Barrel saunas come with wood or electric stoves – what you prefer depends mainly on your personal preference. An electric stove is easier to maintain and more efficient because you don’t need to get wood and can sauna spontaneously due to the shorter heating time. However, an electrician needs to install it and lay cables. Additionally, an electric stove lacks the atmosphere of a real wood fire – the crackling of burning wood and the beautiful flame. The wood stove adds to the cozy ambiance. However, it must comply with legal regulations (BImSchV 2) and be inspected and regularly checked by a chimney sweep. For our barrel saunas, a suitable stove is included in the delivery – some models offer a choice between electric and wood stove.
