What is a hot tub?

A hot tub is a water-filled bathing tub in which the water is heated by a stove or an electric heater. It is designed for outdoor use and is usually placed in the garden or on a terrace. In most cases, the tub consists of a plastic shell with exterior cladding, which helps reduce the risk of leaks.

The ideal water temperature depends on personal preference as well as the outside temperature. In general, 35 to 38 °C is recommended. A ladder or steps make entry easier, while built-in seating improves comfort and creates a more enjoyable bathing experience.

A hot tub is not only a great choice for winter. In summer, it can also be used as a refreshing place to cool down, making it a year-round wellness solution for your garden.

Hot tubs – also known as barrel tubs, bathing tubs, or spa tubs – have a long tradition and originate from Scandinavia. Natural hot springs in that region inspired the development of the modern hot tub. As a “hot bath,” it quickly found its way into private gardens.
